Hello,
I am, Dr. Vijay Agarwal, trained as theoretical physicist from IIT/Kanpur and worked in ISRO primarily in the field of Space Technology for monitoring and modeling Climate change, marine environment and design strategies for sustainable development strategies regarding these changes. I had been associated with several academic institutes and have had great interaction with students. I found them very eager to learn fundamental concepts of physics of things and then apply logical thinking. That was great.
During course of these interactions with students, peers and many technocrats that I must write down my knowledge in book form. I wasn’t very keen on increasing the printed material load of libraries and students. So now trying to adopt this digital world.
After my retirement from ISRO, now I have enough time and understanding of the digital platform to venture writing out this knowledge in terms of blogs and digital reports here and other professional open-source platforms. As a freelancer, I plan to write few essays based on my work and involvements in fundamental research both in theoretical physics, and my professional love of last more than four decades, Climate projections, especially ocean ecosystems both from simulations, satellite data assimilation as well the trying to get projections for sustainable development impacts of the changes for societal applications.
and of course, educating the masses about all that.
In this blog, I will be both highly technical (with simpler explanations, of course) and use layman language to bring essential points for understanding if non-associated. The later ones can be commentaries on the economic and policy issues. I hope that I will be able to stir some debates and awareness to the delicate issues (both polity as well as the science) connected with high technology, their public out-reach and why we should (as taxpayer) support the investment.
I am gearing myself for lots of criticism which hopefully will sharpen the focus, especially SD and Climate.
Thank in advance for the appreciations, if any 🙂
Vijay Agarwal
